How to play Tunnel Rush
Tunnel Rush is a single continuous fall through a rotating tunnel. Obstacles arrive as rings, walls and blocks with one opening in them, and your only job is to be in that opening when you reach it. There are no lives and no checkpoints: one hit ends the run.
- Move: left and right arrow keys, or A and D, to rotate around the tunnel.
- Commit early. Start rotating as soon as you can see the gap. Arriving at an obstacle mid-turn is what kills most runs.
- Do not over-correct. The tunnel spins as well as you do, and two corrections in a row usually put you further from the gap than one.
Speed rises steadily, and the tunnel starts rolling on its own as you get deeper, so the gap you lined up a second ago is no longer where you left it. Later sections combine both: a rotating tunnel and a moving obstacle, arriving faster than the previous set.
How to survive past the first minute
- Watch the far end, not the walls beside you. The gap is visible several obstacles ahead if you are looking at the right depth.
- Take the shortest rotation. When the gap is roughly opposite, either direction works - pick one instantly rather than switching halfway.
- Rest on the empty stretches. The gaps between obstacle sets are where you reset your position to the centre of the next likely opening.
- Learn the colour changes. Each new colour section is a difficulty step. When it flips, expect the pattern to change with it.
- Play in short sessions. Accuracy in a reaction game drops well before you feel tired, and that is where long runs are lost.
About the game
Tunnel Rush is a 3D reaction game built by Deer Cat Games that became a staple of free browser game sites, largely because it explains itself in about two seconds. The build on this page loads straight into the browser. Below it is a wider catalogue of free games kept on this site, ranked by what people are playing rather than by upload date.
Tunnel Rush questions people actually ask
Is Tunnel Rush free here?
Yes, and there is nothing to install. It runs inside this page in your browser, with no account needed.
What are the controls?
Left and right arrow keys, or A and D, to rotate around the tunnel. There is nothing else to press.
Does the game ever stop getting faster?
No. Speed rises continuously and the tunnel itself starts rotating as you get deeper, so the difficulty comes from both at once.
Can I play it on a phone?
A keyboard is much easier. The game is built around two keys and precise, short corrections, which a touchscreen makes harder once the speed picks up.
It runs slowly on my machine - what can I do?
Close other tabs, and make sure hardware acceleration is enabled in your browser. This is a 3D game and it shares the GPU with everything else you have open.
How long is a good run?
Getting past the first colour change already means you are reading gaps rather than reacting to them. Beyond that, every extra section is a real jump in speed, so improvements come in seconds, not minutes.
